Respect and Dignity:
All NDISA members shall treat disabled individuals, their families, and other stakeholders with the utmost respect, ensuring their rights, choices, and dignity are prioritized at all times.
Quality Care and Support:
Providers shall ensure services and supports offered meet the highest quality standards, tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the individual.
Confidentiality:
All personal, medical, and related information concerning disabled individuals shall be treated with the strictest confidentiality unless disclosure is required by law or is essential for the safety of the individual.
Continuous Professional Development:
NDISA members are encouraged to pursue continuous learning and professional development to stay updated with best practices and innovations in the field.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Members shall actively collaborate with other stakeholders, promoting an environment of teamwork and shared knowledge to benefit the NDIS community.
Ethical Practices:
Members shall uphold the highest ethical standards in all dealings, ensuring transparency, honesty, and integrity.
Conflict of Interest:
All conflicts of interest, whether actual or potential, should be disclosed. Members should refrain from any actions that could compromise the best interests of disabled individuals or the reputation of NDISA.
Reporting Malpractice:
Members have an obligation to report any observed or suspected unethical behaviour or malpractice to appropriate authorities or to NDISA's governing body.
Cultural and Individual Sensitivity:
Members shall recognize and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and individual choices of all individuals, ensuring services are inclusive and non-discriminatory.
Financial Integrity:
All financial transactions and dealings must be transparent, honest, and in line with established legal and ethical standards.
Communication:
Open, clear, and respectful communication with disabled individuals, their families, and other stakeholders is vital. Members must provide all necessary information for individuals to make informed decisions.
Feedback and Improvement:
Members are encouraged to actively seek feedback and use it constructively to improve services and practices continually.
Enforcement:
Violations of the NDISA Code of Conduct may lead to actions ranging from counselling to termination of membership, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. The NDISA governing body will handle reports of violations with confidentiality and diligence.
This code aims to instil trust, promote best practices, and ensure the best possible care for disabled individuals. All members of NDISA are expected to uphold these principles and demonstrate their commitment to our shared vision and values.
